Children’s Theatre of Hampton Roads Presents
“The Elf and the Reindeer”
Written by Anton Five

Nothing seems to be going right after some puzzling mishaps in the Elves’ Workshop- there’s been a huge mix-up with the world’s Toys, and even Santa’s sleigh is kaput! Is it just unfortunate timing threatening to stop Christmas in its tracks? Or is there something more sinister at work? After all, the Winter Witch has never been a fan of Christmas.
Mark your calendars this holiday season- two unlikely heroes will need your help saving the North Pole!

Appropriate for all ages, best enjoyed by those four and up.

You’re invited to the Woods for a holiday tea at Uncle Wiggily’s house… only Uncle Wiggily is the last to know! In order to keep you entertained, the old rabbit gentleman will have to get everyone’s help to put on the biggest production the forest has ever seen: Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”!
You’ll meet Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy the muskrat housekeeper, Jumpo Kinkytail the Monkey, Doctor Possum (the possum), and a slew of madcap characters as they portray the quintessential Christmas tale… with just a few minor changes! With enduring themes of love, generosity, and second chances, there’s no better way to celebrate the season than with Uncle Wiggily and his forest friends in CTHR’s beloved adaptation. A charming and original spin on the classic, and great holiday fun for the entire family.

Proteus New Play Festival: You Have to Hear What I Hear

You Have to Hear What I Hear
by Ernest A. White, Jr.
Directed by Patrick Mullins, Asst Director: Jackie Adonis

You Have to Hear What I Hear! explores the polarization effect of being unable to accept an opinion that differs from your own. Using a recent internet phenomenon as an overarching lens, the (mostly) humorous play examines historical, fictional and current issues we have allowed to divide us, to our detriment.

The Proteus New Plays Festival showcases staged readings of 4 scripts that have been developed in the Z Playwrights Lab or by Z Artist Members. The staged readings give the playwrights an opportunity to work with a director and a volunteer cast to see their script “on its feet” for the first time, and add the most crucial element to developing a play, The Audience!

Each reading is presented twice during Proteus Festival. Audiences have the opportunity to rate the plays via a survey focused on the elements of writing an engaging script and story. Ratings are averaged to select the PNPF Audience Favorite. The Audience Favorite receives a workshop production 2-week run in June, closing out our 24-25 Curtain Up! New Plays Series.
