- The Z Open Mic Series: Perform your new hit or old favorite in a welcoming, laid-back environment
- The Z Unplugged: Musician & Singer's Open Mic
- The Undiscovered: Musical Theater Open Mic
- Live at The Z Music Series: Submit to take part in our Proteus Music Contest, Songwriter Swap, and other concert opportunities! Open submissions are listed on our Auditions page, or submit directly to our Music Series producer.
Writers & creators
Submit your scripts for consideration in our theater season, workshops, readings or submit for our annual Fringe Festival:
- Z Fringe Festival: Art that pushes the envelope takes over the Z stages in this 3-day theater & performance festival. Submissions are open for works of all varieties in winter.
- Curtain Up! New Plays Series: Playwrights are invited to submit their scripts for consideration for our season. Directors & Designers should submit your resume and portfolio.
- Z Playwrights Lab: Experienced playwrights are invited to apply for The Z Playwrights Lab, which meets twice a month to develop scripts for festival & professional production at The Z, as part of the Proteus Festival and Curtain Up! Series, and beyond.
Seasonal opportunities

- Proteus Music Contest: The Proteus Festival Music Contest is for emerging and early-career musical artists. The contest is hosted in 3 stages: 1- Submissions, 2- Audience Voting & Finalist Selection, 3- Finalist Competition Concert. Submissions open in August.
- Proteus Creative Teams: Creativity starts here! Form a Creative Team at Proteus Festival to create new art. Grab up to 5 friends and over the course of 5 days, create a new work in one of three disciplines: theater, music, or film. Then, at the annual Proteus Festival, your art takes center stage at The Z as you present your team's new work! Register your teams in August & September.
- Z Fringe Festival: Art that pushes the envelope takes over the 3 Z stages in this 3-day theater & performance festival. Submissions open for new works of all varieties in winter. Open to music, dance, theater, comedy, poetry, & more!
