In April, we welcome Chris Brydge Quartet. With Daniel Clarke on Piano, Eddie Williams on Saxes and Emre Kartari on Drums. This performance will feature original compositions from Chris Brydge and other band members of the quartet.

Chris Brydge
A freelance jazz bassists, educator and composer who has been performing in and around the greater Tidewater area since 1994. Chris is a member of the Virginia Symphony Jazz Orchestra, Roy Muth Big Band, Woody Becker Group, Eddie Williams Trio. You can also find him performing with his own ensembles, Left of Center, the Chris Brydge duo, trio, and quartet. He has performed with John Abercrombie, Frank Foster, Debbie Boone, Shirley Jones, Bernadette Peters, Steve Wilson and many other international jazz and pop artists.
Daniel Clarke
Daniel is a multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer/teacher born and raised in Richmond, VA. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Jazz Studies program, Daniel has gone on to perform and record all over the world. His playing has been heard everywhere from The White House to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Daniel’s eclectic and prodigious musicianship can’t be contained by one specific genre. His ear for quality has made him a sought after collaborator by artists such as k.d. lang, Ryan Adams, The War on Drugs, and countless others spanning all genres. He released the 7” single “Diamonds” on Ryan Adams’ Pax Am label in 2015. Daniel also serves as the Music Director for SPARC’s Live Art, a program at the leading edge of arts education, integrating performing arts curriculum with special education to create a unique and powerful program for students of all abilities. This program means a great deal to Daniel on a personal level; it is for him a representation of just what the Richmond arts community is capable of when it’s creative visionaries come together with a shared purpose.
Eddie Williams
Eddie Was born in Newport New , Virginia. At age 7 moved to York County near Yorktown Va. He started playing Tenor Saxophone at around 12 years old and music continued to be the focus of his education until graduating from York High School. The York High School Jazz Ensemble placed second in the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The early musical influences were primarily rock and R&B. Blood Seat & Tears, Chicago, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix while the high school band experience provided a taste of big band and ensemble playing. Eddie attended Berklee School of Music in the 70’s. The musical influences from Berklee were from Jazz and Jazz Fusion. “If I had to list a couple of saxophone players I listened to a lot in those days, if would have to be Michael Brecker and David Sanborn”.
Emre Kartari
Born into a family of musicians and artists in Ankara, Turkey, Emre moved to the United States when he was ten years old. Soon after, he began to study drums, which led to studying jazz percussion with T. Howard Curtis at Virginia Commonwealth University. He holds an M.A. in jazz performance and composition from New York University, and D.M.A. from Yasar University. he has performed with David Liebman, Houston Person, John Dearth, Darius Jones and Howard Curtis, among others.
