Children’s Theatre of Hampton Roads Presents
“Chasing Mother Goose”
Written by Jess Pinsky, directed by Katherine Nicole Schulze

The venerable poet Mother Goose currently presides over a library that houses every piece of literature in existence. Day and night she does her best to keep order and ensure peace among the shelves. But even under her no-nonsense watch, the books have a tendency to get out of hand. On a seemingly quiet night, the mad Hatter from Wonderland shows up, and when a copy of Moby Dick is returned with pages missing, Captain Ahab also arrives – to wreak vengeance on the creature that took his leg!

Mother Goose and the Hatter have no choice but to comb the other books for Ahab’s missing pages and put him back together before the library opens in the morning, all the while fleeing the amnesic Ahab on his misguided mission! This hilariously creative play, rich with audience interaction, literary celebrities, and touching moments, will delight audiences of all ages.

Appropriate for all ages, best enjoyed by those four and up.

Dustin Furlow & Friends Farewell Show

Live at The Z Music Series

November 02, 2023

7:00pm

Main Stage Theater

Dustin Furlow is an award-winning singer/songwriter and solo-guitarist whose body of work reflects an influence of today’s modern-contemporary folk artists. With comparisons to Ray LaMontagne and Gregory Alan Isakov, his voice is earthy and unique – conjuring subtle traces of soul and Americana. Furlow eventually carved out a sound that became distinguishable by it’s marriage of complex fingerstyle-guitar work and warm, homespun lyrics. From the foot-tapping groove of “Cherokee Lake” to the haunting melodies in “Evergreen,” Dustin is an ambassador of dynamic control on stage and continues to grow with each album. His fourth studio album release is now in production with Kim Person (Tommy Emmanuel, Stephen Bennett).

In April 2021 Dustin was announced as the winner of Scottish luthier Taran Guitars’ “Young Player Bursary” award.

In February 2017, he received the Veer Magazine Music Award for “Best Acoustic/Folk Artist” in the Southeastern Virginia area. That year he also recieved nominations for “Song of the Year” (The Garden), and “Album of the Year” (The Sound That You Call Home).

In 2016, Furlow released the full-length “The Sound That You Call Home”, which has enjoyed airplay on NPR radio’s “Acoustic Highway”, “Hunter at Sunrise”, and “Out of the Box” and recieved the title of “Album of the Year” by Barry Graham of NPR’s “Acoustic Highway”.

A year later Furlow went on to release the EP “Solo”, which was a live-in-studio project recorded by Rob Ulsh at Master Sound Studios (Justin Timberlake, Depeche Mode, Gwen Stefani) in Virginia Beach. (2017)

A mystical dive bar somewhere between heaven and hell, RATHSKELLER is the place John Casey finds himself when he wakes up after a fatal accident. When the mysterious Bartender and her ruckus rock-n-roll bar staff explain the rules of their den of darkness, the man is left with a choice – to face the deadly sins that landed him on their stool or stay in Rathskeller for eternity. A battle for the soul musical, with a powerhouse rock score, Rathskeller: A Musical Elixir asks the audience – What makes someone worthy of mercy or justice? Can redemption be earned? What do any of us deserve?
