Healing takes time. Over 150 days after the tragic shooting at our City’s Municipal Center, Zeiders American Dream Theater invites the community to come together for this FREE Community Event to draw strength and healing through the power of The Arts. Interactive arts activities as well as community arts & therapy resources will be offered in The Z’s Main Stage Lobby. The event will then culminate in a performance in The Z’s Main Stage of dance, music and spoken word by local contributing artists. Arts Partners to offer activities include Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, The Muse Writers Center and The Vibe. WHRO, as media partner, is promoting the event. And Angela Phillips Yoga Studio will be offering guided breath work.
Resources about Arts & Healing will also be available with breath work offered by Angela Phillips Yoga Studio. Also housed in the Main Stage Lobby will be a sampling of items left at the site of the shooting that were collected and are making their way into a memorial museum coordinated by the City of Virginia Beach.
From 3PM-4PM, tables will be set up in The Z’s Main Stage Lobby with interactive arts projects from The Muse, Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art & The Vibe. Arts organizations, to include dance, music, and pottery studios, comedy improv troupes & theaters, will be invited to table so they may share their information and folks can find some form of art they enjoy. From 4PM-5PM everyone is invited into the Main Stage for a performance to include dance, film, spoken word, music.
